Taiwan High Speed Rail is operated by Taiwan High Speed Rail Consortium, with fares costing double to triple time normal trains and the speed double to triple time faster than normal train. HSR currently operates only on the western corridor and stops at 8 stations, Taipei, Banchiao, Taoyuan, Hsinchiu, Chiayi, Tainan and Kaohsiung. There are 62 trains scheduled for every 6-48 minutes a day, not every train stops at all the stops, check before you purchase the tickets.
Ticket counter is open from 6am to 10pm and stops 5 minute before the train's scheduled departure time. Passengers are not allowed on board the train 2 minutes before its scheduled departure time, ticket change for the next scheduled train is available for passengers who missed the boarding time at the ticket counter. |

HSR currently run on 700T model bullet trains with train design based on Shinkansen 700 series and 500 series trains. The train carriages are divided into 2 classes with 1 business car and 11 standard cars, where business class offers wider seats. Both classes offer only aligned seat tickets and no standing tickets. The top operation speed for HSR is 300 km/hr, with a journey time of 96 minutes from Taipei to Kaohsiung. |
