Taiwan Railways

Taiwan Railways is operated by Taiwan Railways Administration Organization and acts as an important role in Taiwan's transport system. TRA routes circulate the entire island forming a loop rail alignment with branch lines stopping at suburban country areas. TRA is not as fast as HSR but more affordable with many more stops at city central making transits more convenient.

TRA Information and Tickets

Trains are divided into five classes from faster to slower services. The classes are Tzu-Chiang (most expansive), Chu-Kuang, Fu-hsing, EMU and Express. The first 3 classes offer assigned seating, standing tickets to be sold after seats are fully reserved. EMU and Express don't offer assigned seating.
Fares differ on the number of stops in between for all train classes. Make sure the train ticket you purchase stops at your desired departure station and destination station.
