Public phones in Taiwan are divided primarily into four types. Coin phones accept coins in denominations of NT$1, NT$5, and NT$10. Phone cards are divided into magnetic strip stored value cards and IC stored value cards, and can be used all over Taiwan. Magnetic strip and IC cards sell for NT$100 and NT$200 each. Recent version of IC card public telephone offers modem port which allows users to access internet connection. |

For example, calling Taiwan number 02-1234-5678 from Hong Kong or Singapore, dial 001-886-2-1234-5678
Dialing local number in Taiwan requires 6-8 digits. For example dialing Taipei number (02)1234-5678 in Taipei, area code is not required, whereas dialing inter county numbers, area code is required. |

Post Service |

Post office hours are 08:00-17:00 Monday to Friday, some offices opens during weekends and holiday, mail categories include registered, express, certified mails and parcels, stamps are sold in post offices, hotels and convenience store. Convenience store also offers express services. |

Crime Precaution |
| |
Taiwan has a low incidence of crime. However be alert of your own safety in night markets, on public transports and late night alley or parks. Avoid traveling alone at night to remain safe and lock your luggage as a precaution against tempering or theft.
Dial 110 or report thefts or pilferage to local police. Contact station staff for lost items on public transports, contact bank for credit card lost. Contact your countries' nearest office or embassy to report stolen or lost passport for replacement. |

When traveling, avoid eating food which might trigger any allergy. Before leaving home, check that you've carry the medications that is for your personal use, or consult local pharmacies for medications that fits your condition. In cases of an emergency, call 119 for ambulance or check in to local hospitals.
